Continuation of Online Classes (Distance Learning) in the Second Quarter
To all students
In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as the health and safety of students and faculty members, the university has decided to take the following measures. For the first quarter starting on Monday, May 18, online classes (distance learning) will be held. Online classes are a new initiative for students as well as faculty and staff, and we thank you for your efforts and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
From the second quarter (Thursday, July 2), we had been preparing to offer face-to-face classes for some subjects. Even after the lifting of the national state of emergency, the Tokyo and Kanagawa governments are still working to prevent the spread of the disease. In addition to cooperating with measures to protect everyone from the risk of infection on the way to and from university, we have made safety and security a priority. We have therefore decided not to conduct face-to-face classes in the second quarter, but continue with online classes.
The intensive courses planned for the summer vacation are to go ahead; however, the schedule for these courses will be announced at a later date.
We are aware that incoming students have been unable to come to the campus or meet with staff and other new students. In the future, we will provide opportunities for interaction between faculty and students and between students, and for students to become familiar with the university. The aim is to set a date for students to come to campus and meet their lecturers and fellow students. (“Fresher’s Meeting”). Details will be announced at a later date.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation.
