Urban Life Studies

Urban Life Studies produces talented individuals with the practical ability to take on planning and implementation that conceives of and plans for the needs of residents, and carries out project promotion, management and administration to create sustainable and attractive urban living. Based on this new concept of urban life, we explore the creation of the urban environment in a new age from the perspective of four fields: urban lifestyles, urban management, urban design, and urban system. Through the study of the above, students will gain skills widely useful in a real-world setting—from the assessment of residents’ needs to planning, project implementation, management and administration.

Academic Programs

  1. The curriculum consists of four fields: urban lifestyle, urban management, urban design, and urban system. Students select subjects from these four fields, and specialize in their studies to learn more in depth.
  2. In addition to learning the basics and application of urban cultural and commercial activities, urban planning, and the spatial design of buildings and dwellings, students will gain the ability to plan, develop, provide, and manage attractive districts and dwellings, products and services.
  3. Through their studies, students gain comprehensive knowledge about a wide range of subjects, such as business administration, economics, sociology, commerce, law, urban engineering, architecture, environmental science, and design; and they select one field from the four to deepen their studies through project exercises, graduation research, and other academic activities.

Urban Life Styles

Students learn about business strategies, marketing, logistics, and financial systems promoting culture, art, and pleasure that make urban life more creative, tourism and customer gathering that help share this culture, art, and pleasure with people from around the world, and the products and services that energize the urban economy. Through these studies, students gain the skills to plan and provide products, spaces, and events that make our daily urban life enjoyable.

Urban Management

Students gain comprehensive production and management abilities in various fields of urban planning and spaces, such as formulating master plans for future cities, promoting urban development (real estate), building a new relationship between people and organizations in urban life (community), and managing and operating cities (town areas) and facilities (properties).

Urban Design

Students learn about urban design that creates beautiful urban scenery and pleasant urban spaces, architecture and space that serve as the basis for urban activities, community design of housing and residential environments, which are the integral part of our life, as well as planning and designing skills, such as CAD, CG, programming, and BIM.

Urban System

Students study the infrastructure that supports various urban activities, the environment required for sharing a rich urban life, the public policies and systems that allow various urban activities to function effectively, social welfare systems for an aging society, and construction and procurement methods necessary to realize urban development projects. Through these studies, students gain the required planning, implementing, and managing abilities.
