2024年2月19日(月)~3月1日(金)の間、2021年より協定校であるサザンクロス大学(以下SCU)から、学生10名と教員1名の計11名が来日し、研修プログラムを行いました。
同プログラムは、オーストラリア政府によるニューコロンボプラン(*)奨学金を得て、本学へ学生の派遣を行っております。今回は「廃棄物処理に関する研究」を研究テーマとして掲げ、来日されました。
SCUの学生たちは、2月19日に本学にてオリエンテーションに参加。また同日に実施された本学留学生会主催のランチ会およびキャンパス見学を通し、本学日本人学生との交流を深めました。さらに、2月26日~2月29日には本学環境化学工学研究室(高津淑人教授)にて、研究室の学生とともに研究活動を行いました(2月20日は廃棄物関連施設見学など学外活動に参加)。
3月1日の最終日には、SCUの学生による成果発表会と副学長の柴田随道教授より修了証書の授与が行われ、SCU引率教員からは充実したプログラムの実施に感謝の意が表されました。

オーストラリア政府の取り組みであり、オーストラリアの大学生がインド太平洋地域で学び、インターンシップ、実習、研究への参加を支援することで、オーストラリアにおけるインド太平洋に関する知識を高め、個人レベルで、また大学、ビジネス、その他のつながりの拡大を通じて、当該地域におけるオーストラリアとの関係を深めることを目的とする奨学金制度

From Monday February 19 to Friday March 1, 2024, a total of 11 members including 10 students and 1 staff from Southern Cross University (SCU), a partner university from 2021, visited Japan for a training program.
The program is supported by the New Colombo Plan (*) scholarship from the Australian government, which sends students to TCU under the theme of "Research on Waste Processing".
The SCU students attended an orientation session at TCU on February 19. On the same day, they had a lunch meeting hosted by the International Student Association and toured the campus to deepen exchanges with Japanese students. From February 26 to 29, they participated in research activities at the Environmental Chemical Engineering Laboratory (Prof. Yoshito Takatsu) with students from the laboratory (On February 20, they participated in a tour of waste-related facilities).
On the final day of the program, March 1, SCU students presented their results and received certificates from Professor Suimichi Shibata, Vice President of TCU. Meanwhile the SCU members expressed their appreciation for the fulfilling program.
